Cystogen
In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, cystitis is often considered as damp-heat in the lower-burner. Crystals and stones are formed when the damp-heat stays inside the body for a long time and circulation through the meridians of the lower abdomen is impeded and stagnation develops. The longer the heated fluid (damp-heat) sits in the bladder, the greater the chance for it to become thick and granular, creating sediment and eventually stones. The key to treatment of this condition is to clear both damp and heat from the lower-burner, including bladder.
This formula is designed to help clear heat and drain damp from the bladder area, and to increase circulation. "Clear heat" means to removes the inflammation, while "draining damp" means it has a diuretic type action. Together, these herbs will soothe membrane linings of the bladder and urethra, relieve pain associated with cystitis signs, and decrease the frequent urge to urinate. It is good for animals with blood and/or crystals in the urine, as well as cats with thickened, macerated bladder walls. It may help in cases of strangury without apparent bacterial causes. It is probably less effective in chronic cases with a constant urge to urinate, due to the spleen and/or kidney yang deficiency associated with coldness in back and extremities
