VIRAL RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS

Background: Newborn animals are very susceptible to respiratory infections. Viral agents may coexist with bacterial and mycoplasmal organisms, causing multiple infections.
Symptoms: May include coughing, respiratory and nasal secretions, lung sounds, fever, anorexia and dyspnea.
Diagnostics: In many cases, the disease is progressing too rapidly to wait for virology to confirm an exact diagnosis; symptoms can be treated non-specifically with antiviral herbs.
Special Notes: In neonatal animals the progress of the disease can be rapid and needs immediate attention.
